What Is Invisalign®?
Invisalign is an orthodontic option for patients who want to avoid the clunky metal of traditional braces. The system uses a series of nearly invisible straightening trays to gradually move teeth into more ideal positions. Invisalign can be used to correct teeth that are crooked or misaligned, close gaps or create space, and even correct a bad bite.
The Benefits Of Invisalign®

- Invisalign is more comfortable for many people than metal braces, which can poke and scratch the soft tissue in your mouth.
- The clear straightening trays are removable, which means eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing are no different than they were pre-Invisalign – simply remove the trays.
- You’ll have fewer visits to our office when using Invisalign. Since there are no wires to adjust regularly, all you need to do is come in for monitoring every four to six weeks.
- The timeline for Invisalign treatment is typically shorter than traditional braces. The average treatment time for Invisalign wearers is only 12 to 18 months!
The Invisalign® Process
To begin your Invisalign journey, visit our office for a consultation. During this appointment, we go over your straightening needs, walk you through the process, and determine an estimated treatment time for your specific case. We also create digital molds of your teeth, either during your first appointment or at a second one. To do this, we take scans, photos, and x-rays of your teeth and put them into a special software that creates a digital recreation of your current smile and your ideal smile. The Invisalign lab uses this to create your trays.
Once your first set of trays is ready, you’ll have a fitting appointment. This appointment is used to make sure the first set fits as expected and to go over the rest of the process, including how often you will need to come back in. We may install small buttons on a few of your teeth to help the Invisalign trays stay on, but don’t worry; these buttons are clear and temporary.
Wear your aligner trays for a minimum of 22 hours each day to stay on track with your treatment plan. Remove them when you’re eating and to brush and floss your teeth. After a couple of weeks, switch to the next set of trays in your series. Come back to our office for regular follow-up appointments every four to six weeks so we can monitor your progress and give you your next set of trays. At the end of your treatment, your teeth will be in their ideal positions, and you’ll have a straighter smile.
