General DentistryNew Britain, CT

Your smile deserves the best quality care, and at New Britain Dental Arts, we strive to provide that to every patient at every appointment. We’re here to help you achieve the healthiest smile possible.

Our New Britain, CT, dental team is trained in a variety of dental care procedures, with preventative general dentistry at our core. We encourage you to maintain regular appointments to allow us to provide the most conservative care possible.

The Importance Of Routine Care

When you practice good oral hygiene and visit the dentist regularly, you are less likely to develop serious dental issues. Typically, we recommend that patients visit our office every six months for a routine exam and cleaning. We use this biannual appointment to determine if you have any additional treatment needs and to develop a treatment plan that is tailored to your smile.

Cleanings & Exams

Dental cleanings and exams are the foundation of good oral health. Combine these with a solid at-home dental hygiene routine, and you’ll be well on your way to maintaining a beautiful smile.

Dental Cleanings
When you come in for your biannual cleaning and exam, your hygienist will use a variety of tools to remove plaque and tartar build-up from the surfaces of your teeth. This build-up, if left unchecked, can lead to infections, gum disease, tooth decay, and more.

Once they’ve cleaned the plaque and tartar from on and between teeth, your hygienist will polish teeth using a gritty paste. This grit, applied with a high-powered electric brush, scrubs teeth thoroughly, leaving them feeling smooth and looking bright. We finish with a flossing, as well as a fluoride treatment. You’ll leave our office showing off a stunning smile.

Dental Exams
To start your dental exam, your hygienist will confirm your medical and dental history. This is important to understand any potential issues and to determine any necessary treatment. Next, we will take an in-depth look at your teeth, gums, and jaw. Our dental team will check gum health by measuring the gum pockets, check for visual signs of tooth decay or other tooth structure damage, and examine your jaw for signs of temporomandibular disorders.

You may be due for updated x-rays at your appointment. If so, sit back and relax because we can take these images right in the dental chair. Our digital x-rays require no film, and the images are available almost immediately for your hygienist and dentist to review.

If we notice any areas of concern, we will discuss your treatment options and answer any questions you may have. We want you to feel completely confident in your dental care, so don’t hesitate to bring any of your concerns to us.
